Research on skill transfer between training environments and target activities shows consistently that specificity matters more than volume. The more closely a training activity resembles the actual performance context, the more transfer occurs. More practically, the habits you build in aim trainers are not always the habits CS2 rewards. In Aim Lab, you can flick from target to target without stopping because the targets do not shoot back. In CS2, the decision of when to move and when to hold is as important as the flick itself. Players who spend excessive time in aim trainers sometimes develop habits of aggression and constant movement that are actively harmful in a game where stopping to shoot is fundamental. The counter-strafing discipline that CS2 demands is not practised in any commercial aim trainer. It has to be built in the game itself, through deathmatch and actual match play.
A sensible routine looks something like this. Before a CS2 session, spend 10 to 15 minutes in a CS2 workshop deathmatch or prefire map. This serves as both warmup and aim-specific practice in a native environment. If you want to supplement with external tools, add 15 minutes of focused KovaaK's scenarios two or three times per week, separate from your gaming sessions rather than as part of them.
